Diaper rash: causes, prevention, and treatment with gentle ingredients

Diaper rash, also known as irritant dermatitis, is very common in newborns and infants.

They manifest themselves with redness, heat, and sometimes cracking in the areas in contact with the diaper. A correct daily approach, combined with non-aggressive and non-occlusive products, can prevent and treat these discomforts very effectively.

🔎 Most common causes

Prolonged contact with urine and feces

Moisture retained by the diaper

Mechanical friction or diapers that are too tight

Too scented detergents or wipes

Introduction of new foods (weaning)

🧼 How to prevent redness

Change diapers often (at least every 3 hours)

Cleanse gently with warm water or specific cleansers for sensitive skin

Dry your skin well by dabbing, never rubbing.

Let your skin breathe with a few minutes without a diaper

Apply a non-occlusive soothing cream with skin-friendly ingredients

🌱 The ingredients we use (zinc-free)

Unlike many products on the market, Silvana formulations do not contain zinc oxide .
We prefer a gentler approach, which does not involve the application of metals to broken or irritated skin.

Alternatively, we use natural and physiological active ingredients such as:

Allantoin : soothing, repairing, accelerates skin regeneration

Hyaluronic acid : maintains hydration and promotes the skin barrier

Calendula : anti-inflammatory and regenerating

Colloidal oatmeal : calming and rebalancing

⚠️ When is it appropriate to contact the pediatrician?

If redness does not improve after 2–3 days of treatment

If blisters or crusts appear

If the child is irritable or has a fever
